In the NBA, LeBron James received wide-ranging opinions when “The Decision” aired on ESPN and the King took his talents to South Beach. Could we see an NFL star use that same platform this year?
Safety Ed Reed, who is currently a free agent after spending his entire 12-year career with the Baltimore Ravens, at least hinted at the idea on his Twitter today.
Now, who knows if Reed is actually serious about this proposition, but NFL Network is willing to oblige and give Reed a television platform for his “Announcement”.
Despite the fact that he is in the twilight of his career, Reed still has a few good years of football left in him and could take his talents elsewhere after winning a Super Bowl this year with the Ravens. Reed has been quoted as saying he would enjoy playing for Bill Belichick in New England. Reed has also been linked to the San Francisco 49ers, where he could play for Jim Harbaugh and play with his former Ravens teammate, receiver Anquan Boldin.
Reed is one of the more prominent names left almost 24 hours into the free agency period. It will be exciting to see if Reed stays in Baltimore or jumps ship to play for another contender.
